Ataegina Walkthrough Guide ((hot)) -
Review: Navigating the Paths of is an ambitious adult visual novel (AVN) that successfully blends dark fantasy, tactical combat, and a deep branching narrative. Developed by Kthulian Games
, the game places you in the shoes of a magic student in a world defined by spellcraft, intrigue, and war. World-Building and Narrative
The story’s greatest strength is its flexibility. Players are given the freedom to build their own karma, choosing between unifying the land or pursuing personal gain. The inclusion of mythology and moral dilemmas adds weight to these choices, making the "villain" or "sovereign" paths feel distinct. Strengths:
Compelling lore, intricate character development (notably for characters like Mida and Halana), and a high number of varied endings. Weaknesses:
Some users find the main protagonist's personality occasionally "childish," and
has been criticized for being slower-paced and more focused on adult content compared to the high-stakes drama of Act I. Gameplay and Technicals Unlike many visual novels that rely solely on text,
features cool battle scenes that set it apart from standard titles in the genre. Ataegina Act II Message Board for PC - GameFAQs ataegina walkthrough guide

I. Getting Started & Combat Basics
The game combines Visual Novel choices with RPG stats. Failing to manage your stats early can make combat frustrating later.
- Difficulty: Start on Normal or Story Mode if you are primarily interested in the narrative and scenes. Hard mode requires significant grinding.
- Combat: This is a turn-based RPG.
- Tip: Don't ignore equipment. Visit the blacksmith and shops in the first major city (the Capital) frequently.
- Mana Management: Mages are powerful but mana potions are expensive. Keep a stash of crafting materials to brew your own.
- Save Slots: Use all available save slots. The game has "point of no return" moments where choosing one faction permanently locks you out of another. Save before every major decision.
Section 2.1 – The Field of Asphodels
Start in a silent, gray meadow. Go right. You have no weapons yet. Avoid the Shades of the Forgotten (they can’t hurt you until you attack first).
- Grab the Broken Sword on the altar.
- Equip it. Now you can fight.
- Defeat three Shades to make the First Seal appear. Insert it into the pedestal.
Chapter 1: The Forest of Unfinished Sorrows
You fall into a sunless wood. Trees have faces. They whisper your failures. Your goal: find the Three Dirges – bells that will open the gate to Ataegina’s shrine. Review: Navigating the Paths of is an ambitious
Walkthrough (story-driven):
-
The Hanged Man’s Clearing – A corpse dangles from a yew. Search its pockets for a Rusted Key and a letter addressed to you: “You were never a hero, Eira.” This triggers a memory flashback (press X to endure).
- Hidden item: Behind the tree, buried under leaves – Locket of Unborn Child (critical for the "Mercy" ending).
-
The Bell of Sighs – Locked in a chapel overrun with thorn vines. Use the Rusted Key. Inside, a Wailing Shade attacks. It cannot be killed, only pacified.
- Solution: Do not fight. Play the lullaby from the locket using the chapel’s music box (press interact in sequence: left, right, middle, left). The shade becomes a crying woman. She gives you the First Dirge.
-
The Cradle Pits – A mine where unwanted children were left. This is the game’s first horror sequence. Torches flicker. Avoid the light – creatures called Sucklings are blind but drawn to flame.
- Walkthrough: Crawl through the narrow tunnels. When you hear crying, stay still. When you hear scratching, move. At the deepest pit, you find Bell of Mercy but it is guarded by the Midwife – a giant insect with a human face.
- Boss: Midwife – She is vulnerable only when she feeds (she will vomit bile on the ground). Dodge, then strike her thorax 3 times. After defeat, she whispers, “You came back… for them?” Take the bell.
-
The Silent Village – No enemies. Just echoes of your past soldiers. In the well, you find Bell of Remorse. But to take it, you must leave behind one memory.
- Choice: Sacrifice your memory of your lover (gain Cold Heart – unlocks brutal dialogue options) OR sacrifice your memory of your oath (gain Broken Seal – unlocks hidden path later).
Return to the shrine gate. Ring the three bells in order: Sighs, Mercy, Remorse. The gate opens. Enemy type : Echo Phantoms – they copy your movements
Ending 2: The Broken Cycle (Neutral Ending)
Requirements: Defeat the Shadow without the Oath.
Choice: Refuse both the Shadow and Ataegina. Strike the Altar.
- Result: You break the underworld’s rules, but become a mindless wanderer. The final shot is Viriato walking the Field of Asphodels again, forever.
Part 1: The Basics – Mechanics & Essential Tips
Before diving in, remember:
- No hand-holding: Ataegina does not have a minimap. You must memorize room layouts or use landmarks.
- Mana = Health: Your mana pool doubles as your health bar. Casting spells drains health. Manage carefully.
- Day/Night Cycle: Some doors only open at night (game-time). Rest at a Lucanian Bier to cycle time.
- Key Items: The Torc of Nabia (double jump), Amber of Endovelicus (dash through enemies), and Lens of Trebaruna (reveal hidden platforms) are mandatory.
Pro-tip: Talk to every raven. They are messengers of Ataegina and give cryptic hints about puzzles.
Section 3.2 – Puzzle: The Mirror Grove
Equip the Lens. You will see hidden platforms leading upward.
- Platforming challenge: The platforms disappear 2 seconds after you touch them. You must chain-double-jump without stopping.
- At the top: First Spring. A cutscene. Guarded by Dryad of the Root.
Boss 2: Dryad of the Root
- She slams roots from the ground. Use dash (you don’t have it yet – so rely on double jump only).
- Hit her exposed heart when she opens her chest.
- After victory, she drops Amber Fragment 1/3.
