1. Disable Cloud Sync: Before replacing any files, go to Steam, right-click Isaac, go to Properties > General, and uncheck "Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud." If you don't do this, Steam will overwrite your new save file with your old one the next time you launch the game.
2. Backup Your Data: If you have any progress you care about, navigate to your save folder and make a copy of your existing repentance folder and put it somewhere safe (like your desktop).
3. No Achievements: Using a downloaded save file will not retroactively unlock Steam achievements. You are downloading the progress, not the trophies.

The Ethical Debate: Is Using a 100% Save File "Cheating?"

The Isaac community is surprisingly split.

The "Purists" say: "You are skipping the journey. The game is about unlocking power through suffering. Using Tainted Cain without earning him invalidates the experience."

The "Pragmatists" say: "It's a single-player game. If you have done the grind once, you have paid your dues. If you just want a sandbox, go for it."

Realistically, no one bans you for using a save file. However, be aware:

• You will be lost: A 100% file drops you into a game with 34 characters and 720 items. If you haven't played before, you will have no idea how to break the game because you skipped the tutorial (the unlocks).
• Mod compatibility: Some mods assume you have a specific item unlocked. If you brute force a save, modded content usually works fine.

Do not download from random file hosting sites (risk of malware). Use trusted sources:
