Step 4: Mining Software
Use cpuminer-opt for CPU coins (Verus, Lucky7, Argon2). For PC100, never mine SHA-256 (bitcoin) – it’s useless. Stick to Cryptonight variants or RandomXL.
Category C: Graphics/GPU Drivers (For Light GPU Mining)
PC100 systems often use AGP 2x/4x cards. These drivers enable OpenCL/CUDA (if an era-appropriate GPU exists).
- NVIDIA Detonator 45.23 – Last driver for GeForce 2/3/4 MX (supports CUDA emulation? No, but good for stable rendering).
- AMD Catalyst 6.5 – For Radeon 7000/8000/9000 series (OpenGL only, no OpenCL).
- Matrox PowerDesk 5.92 – For G400/G450 (ultra-stable for terminal-based mining).
- 3dfx Voodoo5 1.04 – Glide wrapper for nostalgia; usable for VerusCoin mining via CPU only.
- S3 Graphics Savage4 Pro Driver v8.40 – Low overhead for headless mining.
- AGP GART Driver (Generic) v4.80 – Bridges AGP to system memory.
