Download [verified]-- Eve-ng Images
Download — EVE-NG Images
EVE-NG (Emulated Virtual Environment — Next Generation) uses virtual machine images for network device vendors and appliances to build lab topologies. This write-up explains what EVE-NG images are, where to get them, legal and technical considerations, how to prepare and upload images, and tips for troubleshooting and optimization.
Convert VMDK to QCOW2
On your EVE-NG server (or a Linux machine with qemu-utils installed): Download-- Eve-ng Images
qemu-img convert -f vmdk source.vmdk -O qcow2 virtioa.qcow2
6.6 Image Source Strategy (Legal & Practical)
- Official vendor trial images → direct from vendor (EULA must be accepted).
- EVE-NG community images → hosted on EVE-NG’s official mirror.
- User uploads → allow users to share
.img.yml manifests (not the actual binary).
6. Proposed Solution
For Cisco Images
- Cisco VIRL (Virtual Internet Routing Lab): Now evolved into Cisco Modeling Labs (CML). A paid subscription gives you access to legitimate, unlocked images (IOSv, IOS-XRv, CSR1000v, NX-OSv) specifically designed for virtualization.
- Cisco Download Portal: If you have a SmartNet contract on a physical router (like a ISR 4000), you can download the universal
.bin files.
- Note: Modern IOS-XE images often need to be "unpacked" from the
.bin container to work efficiently in EVE-NG.
Summary Scores
- Technical Capability: 9/10 (Industry standard for emulation)
- Ease of Acquisition: 3/10 (Difficult, requires Linux knowledge and hunting for files)
- Legality: 2/10 (Most downloadable images online are unlicensed)
- Value for Study: 10/10 (If you can get them working, they are the best way to learn)
