Part 2: Pre-Requisites for Downloading EPLAN Updates

You cannot simply search Google for "free EPLAN update." EPLAN protects its intellectual property strictly. To perform a legitimate EPLAN download UPD, you must meet the following requirements: Mastering EPLAN Updates: Your Guide to Downloading and

  1. Active Maintenance Contract (Update Service Contract): Only users with an active Software Maintenance Agreement (often called "Update Service") are entitled to download updates. This is typically valid for 12 months after purchase and can be renewed annually.
  2. Registered EPLAN Portal Account: You need a personal account on the official EPLAN Software & Service Portal (formerly EPLAN Download Manager).
  3. Assigned License: Your EPLAN license (dongle or soft licensing) must be registered to your portal account. Updates are tied to the license generation.
  4. Base Version Installed: Most UPDs require a specific base version. For instance, UPD3 for EPLAN 2024 requires EPLAN 2024 SP1 already installed. You cannot apply an UPD to EPLAN 2023.
