Haunted 3D is considered one of the better horror films to come out of Bollywood in the last decade. Unlike typical "slasher" films, this movie focuses on a gripping storyline involving spirits, possession, and time travel.

The Plot: The story follows Rehan, a real estate agent who arrives in Glen Manor to sell a haunted property. He soon discovers that the mansion is plagued by the spirit of a pianist, Margaret, who is being tormented by a vengeful entity. Rehan must travel back in time to 1936 to save Margaret and change the past to secure the future.

Why Haunted was Different

Unlike the jump-scare-heavy horror films of its time, Haunted marketed itself as India’s first stereoscopic 3D horror film. It revolved around a couple, Meera and Rehan, who move into a sprawling, eerie bungalow called "Glen Villa." What they don’t know is that the villa houses the vengeful spirit of a woman named Iyanna, who was brutally murdered by her lover in 1936.

The film’s narrative flips between a modern-day love story and a tragic colonial-era romance. While critics panned its acting, the 3D effects—specifically the ghostly apparitions, floating objects, and the climactic fire sequence—were praised for their technical execution. For many Indian millennials, Haunted – 3D was their first experience of a horror movie in three dimensions at a multiplex.
