Helixftr Player Install
Depending on whether you need a technical guide for your IT team or a general overview for end-users, you can use the appropriate sections below.
Customizing the Interface
- Theme: Switch between Dark and Light mode under Settings → Appearance.
- Category Order: Long-press on a category (e.g., “Sports”) to move it up or down.
- Number of Columns: On TV devices, set the number of channel columns per row (default is 5, but you can increase to 7 or 8 for denser viewing).
Error 2: Installation freezes at 99%
Cause: Antivirus (Avast, McAfee, or Defender) interfering.
Fix: Temporarily disable real-time protection during install, then re-enable. Add HelixFTR.exe to the antivirus exclusion list.
Step 1: Obtain the Installer
- From the evidence provider: Most agencies provide a USB drive or secure download link that includes the player alongside the video files. Look for a folder named
Helix_Playeror a file namedHelixFTRPlayerSetup.exe. - From Getac Support: If you do not have the installer, contact the agency that provided the video and ask them for the player, or visit the official Getac Video Solutions support page (access may require registration).
Adding Your Playlist or Xtream Codes
When you launch HelixFTR Player for the first time, you will see a setup wizard. Choose from the following options:

Load Your Playlist / M3U URL
- Select “Add Playlist” or “M3U URL”.
- Enter a name (e.g., “My IPTV”).
- Paste the M3U URL provided by your IPTV provider. (Format:
http://your-provider.com:8080/get.php?username=xxx&password=xxx&type=m3u). - Click Save.

Login with Xtream Codes API (Recommended for EPG & Catch-Up)
- Select “Xtream Codes Login”.
- Enter the Server URL, Username, and Password provided by your IPTV service.
- Tap Connect. The player will automatically parse live TV, VOD, and series.

.m3ufile, copy it to your device storage and select “Local File” → browse to the file location.

Uninstalling HelixFTR Player (If Needed)
If you decide HelixFTR isn’t for you, removal is straightforward. helixftr player install
Windows:
Control Panel → Programs and Features → HelixFTR Player → Uninstall. Then manually delete %APPDATA%\HelixFTR to remove saved preferences.
macOS:
Drag HelixFTR.app from Applications to Trash. Also delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.helixftr.player.plist.
Linux:
sudo apt remove helixftr (if installed via dpkg) or just delete the AppImage. Depending on whether you need a technical guide
Method 2: HelixFTR Player Install on Amazon Fire TV Stick / Fire TV
Since the Amazon Appstore has a curated list, you may need to sideload the app. This method works for Firestick 4K, Firestick Lite, and Fire TV Cube.
Step 1: On your Firestick home screen, go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options.
Step 2: Turn ON both “ADB Debugging” and “Apps from Unknown Sources”. (If Developer Options is hidden, go to My Fire TV → About → tap the Fire TV Stick name 7 times.)
Step 3: Return to the home screen and search for the “Downloader” app in the Amazon store. Install it.
Step 4: Open Downloader.
Step 5: In the URL field, enter the direct download link for the HelixFTR APK. (Valid sources include APKMirror or the official HelixFTR website. Do not download from untrusted third-party sites. Example: https://www.helixftr.com/download/helixftr-latest.apk – verify this URL at the time of reading.)
Step 6: Tap Go – the APK will download.
Step 7: Once downloaded, click Install.
Step 8: After installation, click Done and then Delete the APK file to save space.
Step 9: Return to the Firestick home screen. You will find HelixFTR Player under “Your Apps & Channels”.
Integrating a VPN for Privacy
Many ISPs throttle or block IPTV streams. Using a VPN prevents this. Customizing the Interface
- Subscribe to a VPN service that supports router-level or app-level VPN (e.g., NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Surfshark).
- Install the VPN app on your device before opening HelixFTR.
- Connect to a server in a country where streaming is unregulated.
- Then launch HelixFTR Player and test channel loading times.
