Since IW4x is a legacy client (superseded by XLabs), the master server can sometimes go offline. This guide covers both the standard method and a manual fix.

Method 1: Manual DNS Flush

  1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
  2. Open hosts with Notepad as Administrator.
  3. Add this line at the bottom: 51.81.49.166 iw4x.another.dev
  4. Save and restart IW4x.

IW4x undergoes periodic binary updates. If the client checksum does not match the server checksum, the server list may populate, but connection attempts will fail or be filtered out pre-emptively.
