Erase the Target Drive:
- Click Disk Utility > Continue.
- In Disk Utility, select your internal drive (usually “Macintosh HD” or the top-level physical disk).
- Click Erase at the top.
- Name: Macintosh HD
- Format: APFS (for SSDs) or Mac OS Extended (Journaled) for HDDs. High Sierra auto-converts SSDs to APFS later, but starting with APFS is fine.
