Installation / Setup Instructions
To ensure a clean installation and successful activation, please follow these steps carefully:
- Uninstall Previous Versions: It is highly recommended to uninstall any previous versions of Macrium Reflect via the Windows Control Panel or the provided uninstaller. Reboot your system afterward.
- Install: Run the setup installer for v8.0.6392. Select the edition that suits your needs during installation.
- Do Not Launch: Uncheck the option to "Run Macrium Reflect" at the end of the installation process. Close the installer completely.
- Apply Fix:
- Navigate to the "Fix" folder included in the download.
- Copy the contents of the fix folder.
- Paste them into the installation directory (usually
C:\Program Files\Macrium\Reflect).
- Overwrite the existing files when prompted.
- Run: Launch Macrium Reflect. It should now show as fully licensed/activated.
Known Issues with this Build + Fix
- ReDeploy failure: The Windows ReDeploy feature (moving to dissimilar hardware) sometimes hangs at 84%. This is a base build issue, not the fix.
- VSS Writer timeouts: On SQL Server boxes, you need to increase the VSS timeout registry key manually.
- Defender detections: Modern Windows Defender (Sept 2023+) flags the fix as
HackTool:Win32/Keygen. This is expected behavior due to the memory patching routine. Add an exclusion.

- Run the Installer: Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install Macrium Reflect.
- Launch the Application: Once installed, launch Macrium Reflect and familiarize yourself with the interface.
