SECTION 2: Hazards Identification
GHS Classification:
- Skin Corrosion/Irritation (Category 1B)
- Serious Eye Damage/Eye Irritation (Category 1)
- Sensitization - Respiratory (Category 1)
- Sensitization - Skin (Category 1)
Signal Word: DANGER
Hazard Statements:
- H314: Causes severe skin burns and eye damage.
- H317: May cause an allergic skin reaction.
- H334: May cause allergy or asthma symptoms or breathing difficulties if inhaled.
Precautionary Statements:

Step 2: Install the Chemical Injection Quill
- Drill and tap a hole in the pipe (or use a weld-o-let fitting).
- Install a full-port isolation ball valve (PVC or SS316) between the pipe and the quill – this allows safe removal of the injection check valve without system shutdown.
- Thread the quill into the ball valve. Ensure the quill tip extends to the center of the pipe for proper dispersion.
- Seal with PTFE tape (never pipe dope that may degrade with acid).
Installing or Implementing the SDS
- File Organization: Create a dedicated folder on your computer or network for SDSs, especially if you're handling multiple chemicals.
- Training: Ensure that anyone who handles Nalco 3272 or similar products reads and understands the SDS.
- Compliance: Make sure that your use and storage of the product comply with the information and recommendations in the SDS.
Part 6: Legal & Compliance Notes (USA & International)
- OSHA (USA): Requires that the MSDS (now SDS) be accessible to all employees. A printed copy must be within 100 feet of the chemical storage area. Installation personnel must be trained in Hazard Communication (29 CFR 1910.1200).
- EPA: Nalco 3272 contains phosphorus. Discharge to surface water may require NPDES permit compliance.
- REACH (EU): If you are in the EU, ensure your supplier provides a compliant SDS in the local language.
- Storage life: 12–18 months in original sealed container. Do not freeze or store above 120°F.
