Walkthrough Exclusive ((full)) - Nightmaretaker
The Nightmaretaker is an adult-oriented parody and spiritual successor to the popular puzzle game Helltaker. It swaps the original's hellish setting for an all-girls school, where you play as a janitor who discovers a demon's power that allows him to interact with students unnoticed. Key Features and Gameplay
The game mirrors many of the mechanics that made Helltaker a viral hit while adding its own "exclusive" twists:
Grid-Based Puzzles: Much like the original, you must reach an objective within a limited number of moves. Each step, interaction, or attack counts against your total.
Environmental Hazards: Players must navigate around spike traps, pushable objects, and enemies that block the path.
Dynamic Solutions: While levels are tightly designed, some stages offer multiple correct paths, encouraging players to experiment with different move sequences.
Visual Style: It retains the iconic art style of Helltaker—sharply dressed characters with distinct personalities conveyed through short, often humorous dialogue. Tips for a Successful Walkthrough
To complete the game efficiently, keep these strategies in mind:
Conserve Moves: Plan your path several steps ahead. Pushing a block or attacking an enemy when unnecessary often leads to failing the level.
Use the Reset: The game features a quick-restart function, making it easy to instantly retry a level if you realize you've made a wrong turn.
The Difficulty Spike: Be prepared for the final stages, which often transition from slow-paced logic puzzles to more reflex-heavy sequences, similar to the "boss" battle found in the original game.
The static on the screen didn’t flicker; it bled. I had been refreshing the underground forums for weeks, hunting for a copy of Nightmaretaker
. It was a legendary piece of "lost media," rumored to be an experimental psychological horror game developed in the late 90s and pulled from shelves after three days. At 3:14 AM, a link appeared: NIGHTMARETAKER_WALKTHROUGH_EXCLUSIVE.exe
I clicked. My monitor went black. Then, a grainy, low-res menu appeared. The music wasn’t a melody; it was the sound of someone breathing through a wet cloth. 🎮 Level 1: The Foyer of Tongues
The walkthrough began with a text overlay in jagged, neon-green font. Objective: Find the key without waking the Master. The Visuals:
The walls weren't wood or stone. They were made of thousands of unblinking eyes. The Mechanic:
If you moved your mouse too fast, the eyes would track you. If they turned red, the game crashed—and your PC would restart with a picture of your own front door as the wallpaper. I watched the player in the video—a user named Null_Pointer
—navigate the hall. They moved with a jagged, unnatural precision. Every time they passed a mirror, the reflection stayed behind, watching the player’s back. 🕯️ Level 2: The Nursery of Echoes The video skipped to a room filled with rusted cribs. The Soundscape:
The audio shifted from the wet breathing to the sound of a dial-up modem screaming in reverse. The player had to "feed" the shadows. The Twist:
To progress, the walkthrough instructed the viewer to plug a microphone in. "Say your mother's maiden name," the screen prompted. In the video, Null_Pointer
whispered something. The shadows in the game grew teeth. They tore through the floorboards, revealing a staircase made of human teeth. The player descended. 🌑 Level 3: The Caretaker’s Office
This was the "Exclusive" part of the walkthrough. No one had ever documented the ending.
The room was a perfect 3D recreation of my own bedroom. The desk, the half-empty soda can, the specific poster on my wall—it was all there in pixelated glory. The Caretaker:
He sat in the chair where I was currently sitting. He was a tall, faceless entity wearing a suit made of static. The Interaction: The Caretaker didn't attack. He just pointed at the screen. The Final Prompt:
“Thank you for taking the shift. I’ve been waiting to go home.” ⚠️ The Glitch in Reality The video ended abruptly. The player, Null_Pointer
, typed one last message in the comments section before the thread was deleted:
"Don't look at the reflection in your monitor when the screen goes black."
My heart hammered against my ribs. I reached for the power button, but my hand froze. The screen went black as the file finished running.
In the dark reflection of the monitor, I saw my room. I saw my chair. But I wasn't the one sitting in it. physical monster digital ghost dark resolution Should the story focus more on the gameplay mechanics main character's descent into madness Let me know how you want to evolve the nightmare
1. Prologue – The Awakening
- You start in a dark bedroom. Examine the mirror → obtain
[Shattered Locket]. - Check the nightstand → obtain
[Faded Photograph]. - Interact with the door → it’s locked.
Trigger: Examine the window three times. A shadow passes. - Return to the mirror. A prompt appears: “Show me what you fear.” → Use
[Shattered Locket]. - The door unlocks. Exit.
Part 2: The Library Sequence – "Don't Read the Red"
The Library is the first major filter. There are 37 books to examine, but only 3 matter. The game tricks you by highlighting random volumes in blue.
The Exclusive Rule: Ignore the blue auras. They are traps. Each blue book you read increases the "Dread Meter" by 15%, summoning the Jester enemy earlier than intended.
VIII. Post-Game Unlock
After the Savior Ending, a new game mode unlocks: “The Sleepwalker’s Path.” This mode removes all UI, all lights, and adds a permadeath feature. Completing this rewards the exclusive “Dawnbringer” skin for your character.
Final Tip: The Nightmare Taker tracks your real-world system clock. If you play between 3:00 AM and 4:00 AM (your local time), the Taker’s AI becomes twice as aggressive, but you find hidden diary pages. Play at your own risk.
Good luck. Don't blink. And whatever you do—don't check under the bed on your second playthrough.
Nightmaretaker is an intense psychological horror game that blends resource management with intricate environmental puzzles. Success requires a balance of stealth, quick reflexes, and keen observation. 💡 Core Mechanics & Survival Tips
Sanity Meter: Staying in darkness or staring at anomalies drains sanity. Keep your flashlight off when safe to save batteries, but never linger in pitch black.
Audio Cues: Use headphones. Footsteps, whispers, and static indicate the proximity of the "Caretaker."
Inventory Management: You have limited slots. Prioritize key items (keys, fuses) over restorative items like pills unless your sanity is critical.
Hiding: Under beds and inside lockers are safe, but if the Caretaker sees you enter, he will pull you out. Break line of sight before hiding. 🔑 Act I: The Awakening (The Asylum Wing) Objective: Find the Master Keycard
Escape the Cell: Interact with the loose brick behind the cot to find a rusted shim. Use it on the cell door.
Locate the Flashlight: Head to the Nurse’s Station (Room 102). The flashlight is in the top drawer.
The Fuse Puzzle: The elevator is dead. Go to the Basement Maintenance room. nightmaretaker walkthrough exclusive
Solution: Flip switches 2, 4, and 5 to balance the voltage to 220V.
The Keycard: Return to the 2nd Floor. Enter the Doctor’s Office. The Keycard is inside the safe.
Safe Code: 4-9-2-1 (found on the back of the "Patient Intake" clipboard). 👁️ Act II: The Descent (The Research Labs) Objective: Neutralize the Security Lockdown
Avoid the Shadows: In this area, shadows move. Do not step on any floor tile that is vibrating.
Chemical Mixing: You need to create an acid to melt the door lock in Lab B. Blue Vial: Found in the Cold Storage. Red Vial: Found in the Testing Chamber.
Mixing: Combine in the centrifuge. Warning: This triggers a chase sequence. Run immediately to the vents.
The Server Room: Reset the terminal. You must complete a "Snake" style mini-game to bypass the firewall without alerting the Caretaker. 🌑 Act III: The Heart of the Nightmare (The Void) Objective: Escape the Cycle
The Mirror Puzzle: You will enter a hallway of mirrors. Only one reflection shows the true door (it’s the one where the player character has no eyes).
The Boss Encounter: You cannot "kill" the Caretaker. You must lure him into the three pressure plates located around the central ritual circle. The Final Choice: Ending A (The Awakening): Take the pill offered at the end.
Ending B (The Cycle): Walk through the black door without taking the pill.
Ending C (True Escape): Burn the "Patient File" found in the hidden wall of Act I before entering the final door. 🛠️ Essential Item Locations
Sanity Pills: Always found in bathrooms and medicine cabinets. Batteries: Check desk drawers and near flickering lamps.

2. Floor 1 – Hall of Recurrence
Goal: Find 3 “Memory Fragments” to activate the elevator.
- Left wing:
- Classroom 1A: Check the chalkboard → puzzle (match dates to events). Solve →
[Fragment A]. - Nurse’s office: Search the cabinet → requires a code from the teacher’s desk in 1B (code = year on the diploma → 1974). Open →
[Fragment B].
- Classroom 1A: Check the chalkboard → puzzle (match dates to events). Solve →
- Right wing:
- Library: Interact with the glowing book → chase sequence. Hide in the coat closet (far right corner). After the nightmare fades →
[Fragment C].
- Library: Interact with the glowing book → chase sequence. Hide in the coat closet (far right corner). After the nightmare fades →
- Return to the central hall → place fragments in the pedestal. Elevator opens.
Exclusive tip: If you collected all 3 without dying, the elevator button will have a red glow – that leads to the secret floor later.
V. Finale: The Dream Cathedral
Boss Mechanics: The Nightmare Taker has three phases. Standard weapons (salt, crucifix) do not work.
- Phase 1 (Shadow Form): The room is dark. Use your cell phone camera flash. Take a picture of the Taker every time it moves. This stuns it. You have 12 photos (battery life). Miss 3 stuns, and you get the “Blind” ending.
- Phase 2 (Child Form): It cries. You must find 5 stuffed animals hidden in the pews.
- Exclusive location: The 5th is inside the confessional booth on the priest’s side (most players check the sinner’s side).
- Phase 3 (The Merge): The Taker will try to possess your character.
- Action: Do not mash buttons. Slowly tap the “Comfort” key (default: E) in rhythm with your character’s heartbeat. The beat slows from 120 BPM to 60 BPM to 30 BPM.
- Final input: When the heart stops, hold the button for 10 seconds.
PHASE 1: The Initiation (Sectors 1-2)
The Philosophy: Speed is your only ally. In the opening sectors, the game lulls you into a false sense of security with tight corridors and sparse lighting. Do not let the atmosphere slow you down.
- The Flashlight Mechanic: Your beam is narrow but powerful. Enemies in Nightmaretaker are sensitive to light changes, not just light itself. Flicking your light off and on rapidly (the "Strobe" technique) stuns lesser "Hollows" for 1.5 seconds—enough time to line up a headshot with your standard issue Rail-Pistol.
- Resource Economy: Do not pick up every ammo drop immediately. In Nightmaretaker, loot scales with your current "Anxiety Level" (a hidden meter). If your screen is pulsing red (high anxiety), enemies drop more ammo but hit harder. Try to loot rooms when you are calm to conserve resources for the bosses.
Exclusive Tip: In Sector 2’s "Server Room" layout, look for the flickering terminal in the corner. Input the hidden code "1984" (found scratched on a wall in the tutorial) to unlock the Ghost Clip mod early. This prevents your first reload each encounter from consuming ammo.
