Velamma Episode 26 - Good Influences Better

Velamma Episode 26 titled Good Influences marks a significant turning point in the long-running adult comic series. While the franchise is known for its provocative themes, this specific chapter dives deeper into character dynamics and the subtle ways social circles impact personal choices.

The story follows Velamma as she interacts with a new group of acquaintances who, on the surface, represent the pinnacle of respectability and modern sophistication. The "Good Influences" mentioned in the title serves as a double entendre. Throughout the episode, we see Velamma attempting to balance her adventurous nature with the refined expectations of her peers. Key Narrative Highlights:

Character Growth: Velamma displays a more reflective side, questioning her usual impulses while trying to fit into a more structured social environment.

Modern Setting: The episode features high-end urban locations, moving away from more traditional domestic settings to showcase a different lifestyle.

Artistic Detail: This chapter is often praised by fans for its polished artwork, specifically the attention paid to fashion and background architecture.

Subversive Humor: Despite the title, the episode maintains the series' signature wit, highlighting the irony that those deemed "good influences" often harbor their own secret desires.

From a production standpoint, Episode 26 stands out for its pacing. It manages to build tension slowly, focusing on dialogue and situational irony before reaching its climax. For collectors and long-time readers, this installment is frequently cited as a favorite because it humanizes Velamma, making her more relatable as she navigates the complexities of peer pressure and social standing.

Ultimately, "Good Influences" explores the idea that everyone has multiple layers. It suggests that while we can be influenced by those around us, our core personality always finds a way to surface. The episode remains a staple of the series, blending spicy narrative beats with a surprisingly grounded look at social etiquette.

Here is the complete story for "Velamma Episode 26 - Good Influences", continuing the family’s dramatic saga.

Velamma Episode 26 - Good Influences

The morning sunlight streamed through the latticed windows of the Nair household, but the usual aroma of fresh filter coffee and jasmine was replaced by the sterile scent of antiseptic spray. Velamma stood in the doorway of the living room, her arms folded, watching her husband, Chandrasekhar, fumble with a blood pressure monitor.

“For the tenth time, Chandra, sit still,” she said, though her voice lacked its usual sharp edge. The past month had been a gauntlet. After the chaotic revelation of Ramesh’s gambling debts and the quiet, humiliating exit of the scheming Anita, the family had been left in shambles. But the worst was yet to come. The stress had triggered a minor heart attack in Chandrasekhar last week.

“The doctor says no fried foods, no arguments, and no ‘creative accounting,’” Velamma added, handing him a bland bowl of kanji (rice gruel).

Chandrasekhar winced. “You make it sound like I enjoyed cooking the books.”

“You enjoyed the results,” she retorted, but her eyes softened. For once, the matriarch was not the storm; she was the umbrella.

The “good influences” of the episode’s title arrived in the form of two unexpected visitors: Radha, who had been living separately with her husband after the family feud, and her young son, Chiku.

Radha stepped in hesitantly, her designer dupatta trailing behind her. But it wasn't the silk that caught everyone's attention—it was the book in her hand. Financial Management for Families.

“Amma,” Radha said, her voice trembling with newfound resolve. “I heard about Appa’s health. I came to help.”

Velamma raised an eyebrow. “Help? Last time you were here, you were throwing your bangles at me.”

“I’ve been seeing a counselor,” Radha admitted. “And a financial advisor. I realized that running away doesn’t fix anything. It just makes you bankrupt in more ways than one.”

From the kitchen, the other daughter-in-law, Priya, peeked out. She had been quietly holding the family together—packing lunches, paying the milkman, and shielding the children from the chaos. Priya had always been the “good influence” that everyone ignored. Today, that changed.

Over the next several scenes, the episode pivoted from melodrama to quiet, transformative moments:

  • The Budget Meeting: Radha, using her newly learned financial skills, sits down with a reluctant Chandrasekhar. She doesn't yell or cry. She simply lays out spreadsheets. “Appa, we sold the third car. We’re renting out the old godown. We’re not poor—we’re just disorganized.” Chandrasekhar, for the first time, tears up—not from shame, but from relief. “You learned this… for me?” he asks. Radha nods. “For us.”

  • Priya’s Stand: Velamma tries to assign extra chores to the maid, but Priya gently but firmly intervenes. “Amma, we can’t afford her anymore. I’ll do the work. But I’ll also need help with the kids. Let’s make a rotating schedule.” Velamma scoffs initially, but when she sees the entire family—including a sheepish Ramesh—agreeing to a chore chart, she relents. “Fine. But I am not scrubbing toilets.”

  • The Son’s Redemption: Ramesh, who had been hiding in his room, finally emerges. He doesn’t ask for forgiveness. Instead, he silently starts repairing the broken garden fence. Later, he hands Velamma a sealed envelope. “My first honest salary from the hardware store,” he says. “It’s not much. But it’s not stolen.” Velamma clutches the envelope to her chest. She doesn’t hug him—that’s not her way—but she pours him a cup of tea. “Sit,” she says. That one word carries the weight of a thousand pardons.

The Climax – The Dinner Table:

The episode ends with the entire family seated for dinner. No fancy dishes—just simple sambar, rice, and beans. Chandrasekhar says grace, something he hasn’t done in years.

“We lost money,” he says, his voice hoarse. “But we found something better. Good influences.”

Radha passes the rice to Priya. Ramesh cracks a joke about his failed get-rich-quick schemes. Even young Chiku, who usually throws food, quietly eats his vegetables—because his mother, Radha, eats hers too.

Velamma looks around the table. Her empire had crumbled. But in its place, something sturdier was growing: a family that finally knew how to listen.

Final Scene – The Verandah:

Late at night, Velamma sits alone on the verandah. The neighbor, Mrs. Menon, calls out, “So, Velamma, is the drama over?”

Velamma sips her tea and smiles—a real, unguarded smile. “Oh, Menon. The drama is never over. But for the first time… the directors are sane.” Velamma Episode 26 - Good Influences

She looks at the sleeping house. The lights are off. The debts are still there. But so is the laughter.

“Good influences,” she whispers. “They don’t arrive with fanfare. They arrive with humility.”

Title: Velamma Episode 26 – "Good Influences": When Change Comes from Unexpected Places

Post:

Episode 26 of Velamma, titled "Good Influences," is a turning point that reminds us just how layered this series can be. On the surface, it continues the drama-filled life of the powerful matriarch, but beneath that, it explores something more subtle: the quiet power of positive influence—and how even strong-willed people can soften when the right person enters their orbit.

🚨 Spoilers ahead for Episode 26.

In this episode, we see Velamma dealing with the aftermath of family tensions, particularly around her son’s choices and her own rigid expectations. But instead of doubling down on manipulation or anger, we witness a rare moment: Velamma actually listening. A younger character (depending on your reading, likely Priya or another female lead) offers a calm, grounded perspective that challenges Velamma’s old-school thinking—not through confrontation, but through empathy and example.

The title “Good Influences” works on two levels:

  1. On Velamma – She begins to realize that her way isn’t the only way. The episode hints that she might be capable of change, even late in the game.
  2. On the younger generation – They’re not just rebellious; they’re shaping the family’s future in healthier ways.

The art and dialogue are top-notch as always. There’s a particularly well-drawn scene where Velamma is alone, reflecting—no dialogue, just expression. It’s rare to see her vulnerable, and the artist nails it.

What I loved:

  • Character growth, not just drama for drama’s sake.
  • A message that influence doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful.
  • A cliffhanger that sets up moral questions for the next episode.

What I’m curious about:

  • Will Velamma truly change, or will old habits return?
  • Who is the real “good influence” in this family—and who just thinks they are?

If you’ve been following Velamma for the spicy twists, don’t skip this episode—it’s quieter but richer. And if you’re here for the psychological depth, Episode 26 is a gem.

Rating: 4.5/5
One of the more mature episodes in the series.

What did you think of Velamma’s reaction in the final panel? Let’s discuss below.

1. The Double-Edged Sword of Influence

The episode repeatedly asks: What makes an influence "good" or "bad"? Prakash’s friends are obviously destructive, but what about Velamma’s secret affairs? Are they bad influences on her psyche? The episode doesn’t provide easy answers but instead suggests that intention and outcome matter equally.

Key Scenes

  • Opening: A relaxed morning at Velamma’s home establishes her comfortable, slightly self-conscious routine. A neighbor’s casual compliment sparks the episode’s central theme.
  • Reunion: Velamma meets her assertive friend, who models self-assurance and subtle boundary-setting. Their conversation serves as an emotional catalyst.
  • Workplace/Social Beat: Small, humorous vignettes show how coworkers and acquaintances offer advice—some sincere, some self-interested—about appearance, relationships, and ambition.
  • Turning Point: Velamma tries a new hairstyle and wardrobe tweak suggested by her friend; the change is small but visually and emotionally significant.
  • Resolution: The episode closes on Velamma making a conscious, modest choice reflecting newfound confidence—choosing a hobby, saying "no" to an intrusive request, or stepping into a minor leadership role—demonstrating how good influences can empower without erasing self.

Artistic and Narrative Style

Episode 26 departs from the series’ usual emphasis on erotic tension, focusing instead on psychological drama. The artwork by the series’ illustrators uses close-up shots during confrontations, wide panels to show isolation (e.g., Prakash alone in his room), and warm hues during reconciliation scenes. The writing is tighter than previous episodes, with less internal monologue and more dialogue-driven conflict.

Notably, the episode contains no explicit sexual content—a rarity for Velamma. Instead, it uses sensuality in subtext: a lingering glance between Jigna and Meera, a touch on the shoulder between Velamma and her son. This restraint makes the emotional payoff more impactful.

The Setup: A House Divided

To understand the weight of Episode 26, we must look at the immediate fallout from the previous chapters. The family was in shambles. Tensions between Velamma and her daughter-in-law, the beautiful yet beleaguered Radhika, were at an all-time high. Arvind (Velamma’s son) was caught in the middle, while the sly Sharma ji continued to lurk in the peripheries, hoping to exploit the chaos.

Episode 26 opens on a surprisingly serene note. Instead of the usual shouting match in the kitchen, we find Velamma sulking on her favorite wooden aaram kurchi (easy chair). The catalyst for this mood swing? A visit from an old friend—a progressive, well-read widow named Shanta Ben.
