Jim reports his commercial 45 copy of Andrea True Connection's "More, More, More (Pt. 1)" has an actual and printed run time of 3:02. I'm passing this along because the song's database CD entries containing a "45 version" comment range from 2:57-3:10.

Virtua Tennis 4 For Pc -

Released in 2011, Virtua Tennis 4 for PC is widely regarded as a solid arcade-style tennis experience that prioritizes fast-paced, accessible fun over deep simulation. While it was officially delisted from major digital storefronts like Steam in April 2015, it remains a cult favorite for PC players looking for a "pick-up-and-play" sports title. Gameplay & Key Features

Arcade Feel: Unlike its competitor Top Spin 4, this game focuses on speed and "Match Momentum" shots that reward you for playing to your character's specific style (e.g., strong defense or heavy serves).

World Tour Mode: The career mode is uniquely structured like a board game. You move across a world map using movement cards, landing on spaces for training, exhibition matches, and various "zaney" mini-games like "Coin Collector" or "Egg Collector".

Roster: Includes 19 licensed stars such as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Maria Sharapova, and Andy Murray.

Graphics: The PC version supports higher resolutions and looks crisp compared to its console counterparts, though it is designed to run well even on lower-end hardware.

The legend of Virtua Tennis 4 on PC isn't just about the aces and volleys on the court—it’s a story of a "lost" digital treasure and the community that keeps it alive. The Rise: A World Tour on Your Desktop virtua tennis 4 for pc

When Sega released Virtua Tennis 4 for the PC, it was the pinnacle of arcade-style sports. Players didn't just play matches; they lived a career through the World Tour mode. You’d create a custom pro and navigate a board-game-style map, balancing training drills, charity events, and major tournaments to become the world's number one.

The PC version brought crisp HD visuals to the series' iconic roster, featuring legends like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Maria Sharapova. It was famous for its quirky minigames—like Egg Collector and Pirate Fight—which were often more addictive than the actual Grand Slams. The Fall: The Digital Disappearance

Despite its polish, the game faced a major hurdle: Games for Windows Live (GFWL). This DRM service was notoriously difficult, often preventing players from saving their progress or even launching the game. Eventually, Sega delisted the game from digital storefronts like Steam. For years, Virtua Tennis 4 became "abandonware," a ghost in the digital machine that was nearly impossible for new players to buy or run on modern systems. The Survival: The Community’s "Ace"

The "proper story" of the game today is written by the fans. To keep the game playable on modern Windows 10 and 11, the community developed fixes to bypass the broken GFWL systems.

The XLiveFix: Players often use community-made files like xliveless to strip away the DRM, allowing the game to run smoothly and save locally. Released in 2011, Virtua Tennis 4 for PC

The Unlockables: Dedicated fans still share guides on how to face the hidden bosses, Duke and King. To find them, you have to dominate the Arcade Mode without dropping a single game—a feat that still challenges veteran players today.

Today, Virtua Tennis 4 remains the gold standard for many who find modern tennis sims too realistic and slow. It’s a fast-paced, "pick-up-and-play" masterpiece that refuses to stay retired.

Here’s a solid, no-nonsense guide to Virtua Tennis 4 for PC — covering gameplay, features, setup tips, and known limitations.

Virtua Tennis 4 (PC) — Complete Story

Virtua Tennis 4 for PC is the Windows port of Sega’s arcade-style tennis sim originally released on consoles in 2011. The game focuses on fast, accessible arcade tennis rather than strict realism, offering a mix of exhibition matches, tournament play, and character-based progression. Below is a concise, complete overview covering its background, content, gameplay systems, modes, PC-specific details, reception, and legacy.

3.3 Physics and Collision Detection

VT4 used a modified version of the Virtua Tennis 3 engine, with ball collision computed at 240 Hz internally. On PC, frame-independent movement was implemented via fixed timestep, ensuring that uncapped frame rates did not accelerate gameplay—a common flaw in early ports. Core Gameplay

  • Controls: Simple directional input plus shot buttons for topspin, slice, lob, volley, and power shots; context-sensitive assists make it accessible.
  • Shot types: Topspin, Slice, Lob, Drop, Volley, Smash; power shots that charge during rallies for strong finishers.
  • Stamina and positioning: Players must manage movement and stamina to maintain performance; footwork and timing are rewarded.
  • Physics: Arcade-leaning ball behavior—consistent and predictable to emphasize fun rallies over simulation nuance.

How to Download (Legally and Safely)

Because the game is no longer sold, the moral consensus in the preservation community is that downloading the Virtua Tennis 4 PC ISO is acceptable for archival purposes—provided you own a physical copy. If you don’t, consider it abandonware.

Step-by-step guide:

  1. Download the Virtua_Tennis_4-RLD ISO from Internet Archive or MyAbandonware.
  2. Mount the ISO with Windows Explorer or Daemon Tools.
  3. Run Setup.exe and install to C:\Games\VT4 (avoid Program Files to prevent permission issues).
  4. Install the Xliveless patch by dropping xlive.dll into the install folder.
  5. Launch VT4.exe. Enjoy the Sega logo and the best arcade tennis ever made.

5. Critical Reception and Community Legacy

Game Overview

  • Title: Virtua Tennis 4 (known as Power Smash 4 in Japan)
  • Developer: Sega
  • Release Year: 2011
  • Engine: MT Framework (Capcom's engine, which allowed for excellent PC optimization)

5.2 Modding Community

The PC version’s open file structure (.dat archives extractable with QuickBMS) enabled:

  • HD texture packs (replaced 512×512 court ads with 2048×2048).
  • Realistic ball physics mod (reduced ball air resistance by 15%).
  • Classic roster mods (added Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras models from Top Spin 4).

A 2012 mod, “VT4 Pro,” removed Super Shots entirely and reduced base movement speed by 20%, converting the game into a simulation—demonstrating the flexibility of the PC platform.

World Tour Mode

For the PC solo player, the "World Tour" is the meat of the game. You create a custom player (with hilariously limited 2011-era face sculpting tools) and travel the globe to enter tournaments. Unlike Virtua Tennis 3‘s strict calendar, VT4 uses a mission-based board game map. You roll dice, land on squares, and face challenges: tie-breakers, target practice, or mini-games like "Pin Crusher" (bowling with tennis balls) and "Block Buster" (breaking blocks with curve shots). These mini-games are surprisingly addictive and serve as the best way to level up your stats.

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.

Couldn't find any decent videos on YouTube of the 45
playing, but I think all of the 3:00 versions of
the song in the database actually run 1% faster than the
45.

Can anyone verify? Calling Mark Matthews.

Agree with crapfromthepast that Rhino's Disco Years,
Volume 1 is the best digital source for this classic. This
CD sounds like it is sourced from lower generation tape
sources than the other options, and tastefully mastered.
I turn up the good and turn down the bad!
