Witch Hunter Version 0.12.0.4 _best_ Guide
Witch Hunter Version 0.12.0.4 – Patch Notes & Encounter Log
"The Veil Thins. The Codex Bleeds. You are no longer just hunting witches."
NEW FEATURE: ECHO TRAILS (Passive Radar)
Your witch's brand now flickers hot when you enter a zone where a major hex was undone—not cast. Someone is unweaving magic on purpose. They are not your enemy. Yet.
ENCOUNTER: THE SILVER APOTHECARY
You find her in the carcass of a burnt windmill, grinding saints' teeth into powder. She doesn't run. She hands you a tarnished locket. Inside: a portrait of you, dated three years from now. Scars you don't yet have.
- [INSPECT LOCKET] – The silver is warm. Too warm. A heartbeat.
- [ASK 'WHO AM I KILLING?'] – She smiles. "Yourself. But later. Much later. Version 0.13."
NEW CORRUPTION MECHANIC: MERCY THRESHOLD
If you spare a marked target three times in a row, your sword develops a rust-colored iris. It watches you sleep. You gain +2 Insight but can no longer harm unarmed targets.
MINI-BOSS: THE CHILDREN'S WICK (0.12.0.4 exclusive)
Not a child. A collective. They speak in math-rock time signatures and steal your peripheral vision. To defeat them, you must lose line of sight on purpose. Close your eyes in-game for 3 real seconds. When you open them—
The room has rotated 90 degrees. The Wicker King is sitting in your chair. He offers you tea.
- [DRINK] – You forget your real name. Gain: 'Unnamed Protocol.' Enemy witches now address you as 'The Former.'
- [REFUSE] – The Children's Wick splits into 12 screaming protocores. Fight begins. Difficulty: Hysterical.
ZONE ADDED: THE GLASS LIBRARY (Hidden behind a confessional in Chapter 3)
Books here are written in hemolacria (blood-tears). Reading restores sanity but permanently stains your vision red. After 3 reads, all NPCs look like innocent versions of witches you've burned. Witch Hunter Version 0.12.0.4
SECRET ENDING TRIGGER (Unmarked)
In 0.12.0.4, if you enter the final boss room without equipping a weapon and wearing the Moth-Torn Veil (dropped by the Apothecary), the final witch stops her incantation.
She lowers her hands. "Finally. I've been waiting since 0.9.2."
She is not your enemy. She is your first partner. You hunted together before you were mind-wiped by the Order.
The true mark is not her. It's the player who restarted the save.
[FORGIVE HER] – Unlocks Co-op Mode (not yet implemented). Your character smiles for the first time.
[BURN HER ANYWAY] – No new content. Just the same ashes. The game remembers.
END OF PATCH NOTES. THE WICKER KING ADDS A POSTSCRIPT:
"You're trying to win. That was never the point. Version 0.12.0.4 is about losing interestingly."
Would you like a continuation of a specific path—like the encounter with the Wicker King, the Glass Library exploration, or the Mercy Threshold effects?

🎮 Quality of Life
- Added quest markers for all active investigations.
- Inventory sorting options (by type, rarity, weight).
- Faster respawn at last bonfire after dying to environmental traps.
2. New Scenes and Content
For many players, the highlight of any Witch Hunter update is the new adult content and visual scenes.

- Animations: This update includes new animations that bring certain intimate or action-heavy moments to life, offering a more immersive experience than static images alone.
What is Witch Hunter? A Quick Refresher
For the uninitiated, Witch Hunter is an indie tactical RPG set in an alternate 16th-century Europe. You lead a motley crew of zealots, rogues, and repentant witches against Lovecraftian horrors. Unlike many RPGs where magic is a tool, here, magic is a contagion. Every spell cast risks corruption, permanent injury, or turning your best hunter into the very abomination you swore to destroy.
Version 0.12.0.4 represents the game’s transition from late alpha to feature-complete beta. The patch number might seem small, but the changes are seismic.
Patch Notes Deep Dive: The Numbers
For the min-maxers and theorycrafters, here are the unlisted numerical changes discovered by the data-mining community:
- Damage Scaling: Two-handed axes now have a 15% armor penetration baseline (up from 5%).
- Enemy AI: Warlocks will now prioritize fleeing over fighting when their health drops below 20%. Previously, they fought to the death, making capture missions too easy. Now, you need net launchers or speed buffs to secure targets.
- Item Stacking: Herbs and bandages now stack to 99 (up from 20). This drastically reduces inventory management fatigue.
✨ New Features
- New Side Quest: “The Cursed Tome” – Investigate the abandoned scriptorium and defeat a new type of cursed scribe enemy.
- Dodge Mechanic Rework – Now grants 0.3 seconds of invincibility on perfect timing.
- Talisman Upgrade System – Enhance talismans at the Witches’ Hearth NPC using essence drops.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Fixed issue where “Spectral Sight” would sometimes fail to reveal hidden runes.
- Resolved a crash when using Purifying Flame on the Drowned Witch mini-boss.
- Corrected a UI overlap bug in the quest log for 1440p and ultrawide resolutions.
- Witch Hunter’s passive “Vigil” now correctly stacks with potion effects.
